The Australian and New Zealand Association of Mathematical Physics (ANZAMP) is a Division of AustMS.
The fourth ANZAMP annual meeting will be held at Noah’s on the Beach in the city of Newcastle, NSW from 9-11 December, 2015.
Newcastle was highlighted by Lonely Planet in its global list of Top 10 Cities for 2011. Newcastle and surrounds has an abundance of beautiful sights including beaches, the potential for whale and dolphin watching, native animal reserves, bushwalking and the Hunter Valley Wine District.
For information on transport to Newcastle, and links to various options for accommodation, please visit the Transport and accommodation page.
This year there will in addition be a satellite conference to celebrate Tony Guttmann's birthday, to be held in Newcastle from 7-8 December. For more information please see the conference website.
Registration is now open. Please visit the registration page for details. (Earlybird rates no longer available, and now registration is for participation only, all speaking slots have been filled.)

Keynote speakers
Mireille Bousquet-Mélou | University of Bordeaux | The Potts model on planar maps |
Denis Evans | Australian National University | Dissipation and the foundations of classical statistical thermodynamics |
Daniel Jafferis | Harvard University | Supersymmetric partitions functions of quantum field theories |
Rod Gover | The University of Auckland | Calculus for conformally compact manifolds, generalising the Willmore energy, and the geometry of scale |

Welcome Reception and Public Lecture
On Tuesday, December 8 the welcome reception will be from 5:30pm-6pm at Newcastle City Hall. Drinks and nibbles will be provided, and registration for the ANZAMP meeting will be open.
Immediately following the welcome reception, there will be a joint public lecture at the same venue from 6pm-7pm, by Head Mathematics Teacher at the Hunter School of the Performing Arts, Cassandra Portelli, and Professor of Mathematics at the University of Sydney, Nalini Joshi: Researchers and teachers talking: journeys through mathematics and life. The public lecture is part of the Inspiring mathematics and science in teacher education (IMSITE) project, and is a joint effort between IMSITE and ANZAMP. Further details here.
Registration will remain open until 7:30pm (but unfortunately no more drinks and nibbles will be supplied). Newcastle City Hall is conveniently located close to many restaurants, including the popular Darby street which is known as one of Newcastle's premier “eat streets”.

A. J. Guttmann Prize
This prize ($500) is awarded for the most outstanding talk by a student or recent graduate (PhD completed in the calendar year of the meeting) presented at each ANZAMP meeting. The prize is named in honour of Professor Anthony J. Guttmann, who has been, and continues to be, a leading figure in the mathematical physics community in Australia. Among many distinctions, Tony Guttmann has a distinguished research record in statistical mechanics, was President of the Australian Mathematical Society and was one of the leading figures in the establishment of the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute. Tony is renowned for the guidance and wisdom he offers to his colleagues and students, and he is a tireless advocate of programs for talented students in mathematical physics, and mathematics more generally.
Winners of the A. J. Guttmann Prize
2012 | Elena Tartaglia | Logarithmic superconformal minimal models |
2013 | Inna Lukyanenko | Properties of the Bethe Ansatz equations for Richardson-Gaudin models |
2014 | Calum Robertson | Newtonian limits and the evolution of inhomogeneous universes |
2015 | Alexandr Garbali | The Izergin--Korepin model at a root of unity |
